About Kate Taylor
Kate Taylor began her love affair with wood while building a replica of an 18th century log cabin using the tools of early American settlers. Kate recalls the experience: “Sitting on the peak of the roof, smelling the cedar shingles, I looked out over the meadow and realized I was hooked on wood.”

From there Kate went on to work for carpenters and cabinetmakers before starting her own business in the late 1990’s. As well as making custom furniture and built-ins, she also sells her work at local galleries and through art/craft shows throughout New England. Several years ago, she expanded her business to include teaching, both at her own shop and through Adult Education programs South of Boston.

In the past year she has started a new website
www.wooden-box-maker.com. In the website she indulges her love of writing while sharing her interest and knowledge in wood and woodworking.

Kate says:
“I create each of my pieces individually starting with rough lumber and ending with many coats of hand rubbed finish. I have been working with wood for many years and finding new ways of bringing out its natural beauty still fills me with pleasure.

Thanks for you interest in my work."
